Pasture Raised Turkeys

Each spring, we start a flock of turkeys. These birds live their entire lives in the back of our farm on a secluded meadow surrounded by forest. We bring these birds to market just in time for the holidays.

This year we are raising a mixed flock consisting of Black Spanish, Bourbon Red, and Bronze Standard breeds. These “heritage” breeds have been around for hundreds of years and used to be quite popular until the more modern domesticated broad-breasted varieties took over back in the 1960’s. We find that the older heirloom breeds work better in the open range of our farm. They’re smaller, nimbler, and better able to forage on their own.

As with all our poultry, these birds are raised with no antibiotics and fed with locally sourced grains containing no corn, and no soy. We butcher them simply with no preservatives and no added water or salt, then freeze them. Our birds are $8 per pound, and we have birds from 10 to 21 lbs. We take a $25 deposit when you order your bird with the balance due when you pick it up. You may pick up your bird at our farm or any Beaverton Farmers Market in November.
